Aya Imamura

Aya Imamura is a visual artist, living and working in Berlin and Kyoto, Japan. Since receiving her M.A. in Fine Arts from Kyoto Seika University (Japan) in 2008, she has been working in printmaking, photography and installation. Her work has been exhibited across Europe and in Japan. Recent exhibitions include the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, Kyoto (Japan), The Contemporary Art Gallery in Opole (Poland), Künstlerhaus Wien (Austria) and Museum of Fine Arts Liège (Belgique). In 2015, she is received Pola foundation grant and researching at the Institut for history and theory of design, University of Art Berlin.
She is interested in body, sexuality and socio political relations related to the visual culture. above those in the context She appropriates motifs from Christian iconography, symbolic metaphors and combines them with a visual culture aesthetic praxis.
