Sheila Creevey

Sheila Creevey is a dance artist, arts manager and consultant, specialising in creative and strategic development. She has worked in dance and arts development, management and production, in various contexts, over the past 15 years. Her interest and experience has crossed borders between Ireland, the UK, and across Europe, having worked with dance companies and agencies in roles that both delivered, and supported the delivery of, professional practice and creative learning. She held the position of Chairperson of Dance Research Forum Ireland from 2010 to 2014.Sheila has a BA(Hons) in Dance Studies and Music (University of Surrey / Roehampton), an MA in Dance Performance (University of Limerick), and  an MBA in Arts Management (IT Carlow). She has researched and published in the area of Youth Dance (Dance Ireland, 2008), Dance and Social Media (DRFI, 2009) and Young People and Opera (Practice Journal, 2011). Her current research examines the role of the Dance Artist as Entrepreneur, innovation and the development of policy from practice. Sheila is a Dance Ireland selected participant for the Léim Project, a European dance leadership programme, led by Dance Ireland.

 

Sheila is interested in the curation of dance across multiple platforms, and has led and developed projects that have brought together artists, scholars and enthusiasts of dance – through publication (online and offline), conferences, festivals and performances. Dance Ignition Lab is a new project that aims to support new cross-disciplinary working methods – and will have multiple iterations and manifestations.
